ALBUM REVIEW,'XSILENCE.NET' 2015:-
'......It starts with a syrupy and sublimely kitsch slow ("This Fear Of Loing") and we wonder if Glenn Melia lived well in his time.
Very precious and chartered in his music, Glenn Melia is the champion of an aesthetic sense not outdated but completely irrelevant.
And this is probably what explains his total lack of success that pushed him to explore labels as obscure as Sarah Records or Vinyl Japan. Stored in the minauderies department, St Christopher is a group too anxious to sound in refinement to find an echo in contemporary needs. Anachronistic and superb, these songs went unnoticed, failing to resonate in a world of brute. There is probably too much finesse, too much mannerism and elegance.
Yet this small collection of goldsmiths' jewelry, totally original and somewhere crazy, often reaches the absolute sublime, without ever ringing in pretension. On the contrary, it is with three times nothing and a lot of sensitivity that Glenn Melia delivers some poetic extracts like so many striking Polaroids on beauty and melancholy.
Incredibly fragile, this album perfectly marries the exacerbated sensitivity of its author.
"A Man Bewitched" resembles the spleen of a crooner on the return, sublimated by a beautiful chorus, before ending with a sudden surge of crystalline guitars. The taste of the neat is particularly highlighted on the vaporous "Alpine Village" or "Tranquility".
But the tone is also more radiant on "Don't Have A Stranger Of Yourself", "Stab" or the catchy "Natasha, I know". St Christopher touches on the essentials without adding more. The titles are all very graceful but do not fill their brilliance under tons of effects. The clear sound serves to illuminate these small pieces of pearls (like the delicate "Dark") to better set them together.
This marvel of 'twee-pop', sweet and sweet, amazing sobriety, leaves you wondering. Where is this man, who already lived outside his time, today?

Very good 16/20
